Valence School became a Specialist Sports College in September 2008. Our aim as a Sports College is to raise student achievement and attainment in all subjects across the School, strengthening and developing the teaching of our specialist subjects PE and English to disseminate good practice.

The Sports College is committed to delivering high quality PE as set out by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, using the basic principles of:-

• Enabling all young people, whatever their circumstances or ability, to take part in and enjoy PE and Sport

• Promote young peoples' health, safety and well being.

• Enabling all young people to improve and achieve in line with their age, ability and potential.

Valence School offers an extensive range of opportunities to pupils through the specialist subjects, links with sponsors, business and other educational organisations. We also collaborate with our Partner Schools (four primary schools and one secondary school), and the Community as a whole to facilitate high quality learning opportunities in PE focusing specifically on the young disabled.
