Hawking Pathway

Formal approach

In the formal pathway, students follow a broad and enriched curriculum, which is bespoke to their circumstance and ability. In Key Stage 1, the intention is for students to progress through Pre-Key Stage levels to the National Curriculum in a range of subjects. The objective is to build and develop knowledge throughout the primary years. In Key Stages 2 and 3, students will be following the National Curriculum in preparation for qualifications. In Key Stages 4 and 5, the purpose is for students to aspire to the highest level of qualification they can achieve (AS, GCSE or Entry Level), which will allow them to continue with further education in another appropriate setting. Overall, we are passionate about developing independent and resilient learners, who are passionate about the subjects they learn and positive in their outlook.

In the Hawking pathway, students study a breadth of subjects: English, Maths, Science, PSHE, PE, Swim, Art and Design, Computing, Cooking, Humanities, and Modern Foreign Language. Primary Hawking students take part in Forest School, and they have lessons in Phonics and Music. In secondary, Music develops into Expressive Arts, and some students also have lessons in Drama, and Design and Technology.
